Configuring Alarm Shelving

There are three system parameters that control alarm shelving. You can find these in the Parameter Editor (in DMS, SCADAConnect Forms or SPM) under Alarm Configuration.

Enable or disable alarm shelving

Use the Enable Alarm Shelving parameter to turn alarm shelving on and off. The default is No which disables alarm shelving.

Note

If you turn alarm shelving off while there are still shelved alarms those alarms will unshelve when their shelving period expires.

Set the minimum shelving period

Use the Alarm Min Shelve Duration in Min parameter to set the minimum shelving period. This defaults to 1 minute.

Set the maximum shelving period

Use the Alarm Max Shelve Duration in Min parameter to set the maximum shelving period. This defaults to 100 minutes.

Note

Note that if you extend a shelving period, the maximum time limit is still calculated from the time when you first shelved the alarms. So if you set the period to the maximum allowed, you cannot later extend the period. If you need to extend the period anyway, unshelve and reshelve the alarms.
