Polling and Bursting

Communication between the host system and a site is of two types:

• Burst - communications that is initiated by the site, usually in response to exceeding a threshold value such as an alarm setting.
• Poll - communications that is initiated by the host system. Regular polling is configured for the site tables or you can initiate a poll of all tags or of an individual tag.

To poll an individual tag to refresh the tag data:

• Right click on the tag and choose Poll from the shortcut menu. This is the most efficient way to refresh a single tag.

To poll all tags at a site:

• Click the Poll button at the top right of the screen.
