Sending a Message

You can send voice or text messages to parties or objects. The application itself can be configured to automatically send messages as alarm acknowledgements, or for various other purposes.

To send a message:

  1. Click Messages to open the Messages module.

    You can also send messages from the Parties or the Objects modules.

  2. Click New Message to open the Create Messages window.
  3. Enter the following details:

    To

    Select the message recipient. This can be a party or an object.

    Expires

    (Optional) Set a date when the message will expire and be removed from the recipient's inbox. If you don't set an expiry date, the message will never expire.

    For example, if you are sending a message to announce an event (such as a water restriction period) set the message to expire when the event is finished.

    Type

    Select Text, Voice or both.

    You must have IVR installed to use the voice mail features.

    Contact Number

    If you select Voice, your contact number will appear in the Contact Number field. Enter a different number if you wish. The application will call you on this number to record your voice message.

    Record/Autogenerate

    These options apply to voice messages.

    • Choose Record to record a message using your phone,
    • Choose Auto Generate to generate a voice message from the message text.

    You must have Text to Voice enabled to use the auto generate feature.

  4. Enter the message text.
  5. Click Send to send the message.
