Associating RelationTypes with Object Types

A relation type links two objects together. One object is the super or parent object, and the other is the sub object in the relationship. You must specify what object types can use the relation type, and how they will be related, before you can create any relationships.

To associate object types using a relation type

  1. Click Object Types to open the Object Types module.
  2. Select one of the object types that will use this relation type.
  3. On the Relations tab, click Insert to open the Inserting Relations screen.
  4. Fill in the relation details as follows:
    PropertyDescription

    Object Type

Specify whether the selected object type is to be the Super Type or the Sub Type in the relationship.

    Relation Type

Select the relation type from the drop-down field.

    Sub Type/Super Type

Specify the other object type in the relationship. This will have the opposite role to the one you chose for the selected object type. Note that the relation type will also apply to any subtypes.
  5. Click Save to save your changes.

You can now use this relation type to create relationships between objects of these types.
