Importing and Exporting Reports

Editable report definitions are stored in the application database. You can export your reports to xml format and import saved xml reports. This is a convenient way to transfer reports between databases.

Example

Create and test your reports in a test database, then export them to xml format and import them into your production database.

To export an editable report:

  1. In the Report Editor module, open the report that you want to export.
  2. Choose File > Export from the menu and select a location and filename for the report.
  3. Click Save to save your exported file.

To import an editable report:

When you import a report file, it will open immediately in the Report Editor. If you currently have a report open for editing you will be prompted to save it before you continue with the import.

  1. In the Report Editor module, choose File > Import from the menu.
  2. Choose the xml report file that you want to import and click Open to open it in the Report Editor.

Note

To see your changes you must restart the application after importing a report.
