Managing Crop Types and Plantings
A crop type is a way to classify water use. Crop types are typically agricultural crops such as rice, or cotton, but other water usage can be recorded as a "crop type" such as water provided for stock, or for domestic use.
Demand Prediction uses crop data such as the area, planting period, and crop factor (kc) for its calculations.
To use crop types for Demand Prediction you must:
In DMS
Enable ordering by crop types by setting the Order by Crops parameter for the system to Y(es).
Note
If ordering by crop type is enabled you MUST specify the crop types for every order.
In NetworkConnect
-
Create the crop types that you need and specify the crop factors for each crop type.
Note
If you have already set up crop types in DMS they will also be available in NetworkConnect.
- Create Irrigation Units for each account
- Create plantings to associate the irrigation units with the crop types and specify the planting period
See the NetworkConnect documentation for more details of managing crops, plantings, and irrigation units.
