Changing an Area Boundary

You might need to change the area boundaries if you need to subdivide an area, or if you want to delete a network object that is currently an area boundary.

Note

The application displays a warning if you remove a regulator that is an area boundary.

To change the area boundaries:

  1. In the Areas module, select the area that you want to edit.
  2. In the Areas > Boundaries tab, click Edit to make the boundaries editable.
  3. Select the old boundary that you want to remove and click Remove to delete the old boundary.
  4. Click Add to open the Add Boundaries screen.
  5. Select the Regulator that you want to add as a boundary for the area.
  6. Specify the boundary direction:
    • Up - the regulator is at the upstream border of the area
    • Down - the regulator is at the downstream border of the area
  7. Select the Top Regulator checkbox if the regulator should be set as a top regulator. See What is a Top Regulator?
  8. (Optional) Set the Sequence Number. This is used to order the results in some reports (for example, the Meter Reading report).
  9. Click Save to save your changes.

Generate and view the area

  1. Click View in Network:.
    • The application generates the area to determine what network objects belong within the area.
    • The Network Viewer opens to display the area.
  2. Check the area to confirm that the boundaries are correct and that all the appropriate objects are included.
