The Network Editor Menu and Toolbar

This table describes the options in the main menu, and any matching icons that appear on the main toolbar.

Network Menu

Option Description

Reload

Reload the network into the Network Editor. Use this option if you have made changes to objects outside of the Network Editor.

To Clipboard

Copy the current selection to the clipboard.

Print

Print the network schematic

Quit

Close the Network Editor. Your changes are saved automatically as you make them, you do not have to specifically save changes before quitting the Editor.

Edit Menu

Option Description

Remove

Remove an unconnected property from the schematic.

You can remove properties from the network without deleting them from the host database.

Delete

Delete the selected object from the schematic.

If the object has any connections to other objects, you must disconnect it first. Properties that have associated information (such as orders) cannot be deleted.

Move

Move a selected property or outlet object

Property

Select a property and choose an option from the Property submenu:
  • Connect - connect a property to an outlet. Click on the outlet to connect it to the property.
  • Disconnect - disconnect a property from an outlet. Click on the outlet to disconnect it from the property.

Outlet

Select an outlet and choose an option from the Outlet submenu:
  • Connect - connect an outlet to a reach. Click on the reach to connect the selected outlet.
  • Disconnect - disconnect an outlet from a reach.

Node

Select a node at either end of a reach or regulator and choose an option from the Node submenu:
  • Connect - connect two adjacent objects with an abutment.
  • Disconnect - disconnect a reach from a regulator or from another reach.

Create Area

Create an area by selecting the area boundaries on the map.

Group Move

Move several objects at once. Shift-click on objects to select them, then choose this option from the menu.

Select by Regulator

Choose a regulator to select the parts of the network that lie downstream of this regulator.

This provides a quick visual aid that you can use to check network connectivity.

View Menu

Option Toolbar Description

Zoom In

Increase the canvas magnification

You can also zoom using the slider control at the top of the canvas.

Zoom Out

Decrease the canvas magnification

Zoom to Window

Drag to select an area on the canvas and zoom to fit that area

Extent

Zoom out so that the whole network is visible on the canvas

Navigate

  Choose a viewing option for the navigation pane which is a small window that shows both the network, and your current location on the canvas:
  • By Window - show the navigation pane as a separate window
  • Dock NorthWest, NorthEast, SouthEast, SouthWest - dock the navigation pane at one corner of the canvas
  • None - close the navigation pane.

Previous

Go to the previous view

Next

Go to the next view (available after you have gone back to a previous view)

Show Abutment

For a selected node, show all the nodes to which it is connected. Use this tool to confirm that nodes are correctly connected.

Show Network Tree

Show the network tree downstream of the selected object. The following options are available:

  • Select the type of object to show
  • Filter or search the tree
  • Select items on the tree to move to them in the schematic
  • Lock the tree while you navigate the schematic

Find an object in the schematic using the object name

Help Menu

Option Description

About

View information about the the application such as version number. You may be asked to provide this information if you contact Rubicon Support for help with the Network Editor.
