The Network Editor Palette
The palette is a set of icons representing object types that you can add to your network, and a set of configuration options that control what information is displayed.
Object types on the palette
- Hover your pointer over any icon to see a tooltip that specifies the object type represented by that icon.
- Select an object type from the palette to start drawing that object on the Network Editor canvas.
Creating your own Icons
Create your own icons using the
Icon Builder tool. You can create new icons, or modify existing icons. See Working with the Icon Builder for more details.
Specifying the Icon for an Object Type
The icon used for a network is set in the Graphic Icon property of the object type. You can view or change this property on the Object Types module > Details tab. The property is inherited, which means that any subtypes will use the same icon unless you specify a different icon to use for the subtype.
To set the icon for an object type:
Caution
When you set the icon for an object type, the setting is inherited by all the object type's sub-types. If this is not what you want, make sure to specify the correct icons for the sub-types and reset them when you have changed the parent type's icon.
- Click
Object Types to open the Object Types module. - Select the object type whose icon you want to set.
- On the Details tab, click Edit.
- In the Graphic Icon field, select the icon you want to use.
- Click Save to save your changes.
Configuration options on the palette
At the bottom of the palette are a set of checkboxes that control display configuration options. These options can be useful for reducing the amount of clutter on the network schematic when planning. The options are applied when you click the Apply or OK buttons and are saved for you and will be applied whenever you log in.
