Outlet Management Module

The Outlet Management module provides a quick and convenient way to transfer an outlet from one property to another. For example, use this module to reallocate outlets when a property is subdivided, or when two properties are merged.

Restrictions

You cannot use this module to transfer outlets in the following cases:

  • There have been orders supplied to the outlet that post-date the last meter reading
  • There are pending orders.

There may be other restrictions specific to your network. For example, some networks require that the relationship between properties and available outlets is specified in an external register or database before they can be changed in DMS.

After you have transferred an outlet, you must adjust the Water Entitlement Percentage attribute for the outlets so that the percentages for each property add up to 100%. You must do this whether or not you actually use this attribute in practice.

Usages for the Outlet

If you transfer an outlet to a new property, the stored usage history for the outlet is NOT transferred because it is recorded against the authorisation, not against the outlet itself.

Note

An authorisation is a link between a property and an outlet that allows us to assign an order to the correct property and outlet.

When an outlet is transferred, the authorisation associated with that outlet is saved, and a new authorisation is created so that past and future usages can be allocated to the correct properties.
