Merging two parties

Merge parties to remove duplicate parties.

Merging parties copies data from one party to the other, and removes one of the merged parties. You can choose how to copy the data for each field.

To merge two parties:

1. Click Parties to open the Parties module, then choose Action > Merge Parties from the menu. The Merge Party form opens.
2. In the Merge Party form, choose a Primary party. This party will be saved when you perform the merge.
3. Choose a Secondary party. This party will be removed when you perform the merge.
4. For each field on the form, choose whether you want to save the data from the Primary or the Secondary party. Select the radio button beside the data that you want to keep. The other data in this field will be deleted.
5. Click Merge. For each field, the data that you selected is saved to the Primary party. When the data has been saved, the Secondary party is deleted.

   Note

   To view the original details of any merged parties, choose Action > View Log File from the Parties menu. This opens the merge_parties.log file which stores the details of the merged parties.
