Single Water Allocation Accounts

Formerly called Single Farming Units (SFU)

What is a Single Water Allocation Account?

A Single Water Allocation Account (SWAA) is a collection of properties that pool their allocations so that any member can order water from the pooled allocation. They are typically used when a single owner has several properties and wants to be able to freely share the allocations of each of the individual properties.

How is a Single Water Allocation Account Configured?

The process for configuring an SWAA is as follows:

  • Using the Properties module, create a property to represent the SWAA. We recommend that you use a naming convention that clearly identifies a property as an SWAA.
  • Create an SWAA relationship between the SWAA and each of the properties that it owns. The SWAA will be the Super Object and each owned property will be a Sub Object.

    Note

If you have not configured any SWAAs before, you may need to add the SWAA relation type to the Property object. See Associating RelationTypes with Object Types for details.

  • Configure the attributes that you want to share on the SWAA. These should include attributes that show allocations, usages and remaining allocation.

This is done by creating an SWAA aggregation attributes parameter for each attribute that you want to share. You can find the attribute type ID from the Attribute Types module.

How Does a Single Water Allocation Account Work?

In effect, members of the SWAA all order from the same shared allocation.

  • When properties belong to a Single Water Allocation Account, attributes of the member properties such as water allocations and usages are summed and applied to the SWAA property.
  • When an operator orders water for an outlet attached to a member property, DMS checks the aggregated availability for the SWAA when deciding if the order should proceed.

Viewing Usage and Allocations

Parties with OWNER authority for the SWAA have access to both summary data for the SWAA, and data for the individual member properties. For example, this information is available in the SWAA version of the Water Statement.

Parties with OWNER authority for member properties only have access to details for that property. They will only see their own allocations when ordering, but they are allowed to exceed their allocations provided the SWAA has not exceeded its pooled allocation.
