The FlowMeter Status screen displays flowmeter sensor details for SlipMeters and other products with flowmeters.

Flowmeter Status screen

The FlowMeter status screen includes the following sections:

FlowMeter Status

Alarm indicators are green to indicate normal opreation (OK status) and red to indicate a problem or error (FAIL status).

Details are given for the upstream sensor tags only. The downstream tags behave in the same way.

Field Description Tag
Sonaray Software Version Sonaray software version number. ISOFTWARE_VERSION
Meter Interface Version Meter interface software version number. IFACE_VER_NO
Flowmeter Comm Status Status of the communications link between the RTU and the SONARAY MODBUS device (flow meter).

FM_COMM_STATUS

  • 0-OK
  • 1- FAIL
Pipe Not Full Indicates whether the pipe is not completely submerged.

The meter can detect this condition with its integrated ultrasonic level sensor, and amend the flow calculations accordingly, but there may be some loss of accuracy.

PIPE_NOT_FULL

  • 0- FULL
  • 1- NOT FULL
Low Flow Indicates whether the flow is below the low flow cutoff value. Below this value the flow rate is not considered reliable and the flow accumulators are not updated.

LOW_FLOW

  • 0-OK
  • 1- LOW FLOW
Leakage Alarm Indicates whether there is leakage at the meter when the gate is closed.

This is detected by checking the change of volume over a standard duration and comparing it to a specified tolerance. These settings are configured in the Leakage Volume parameters in the Flow Configuration section of the Flowmeter Status screen.

LEAKAGE_ALARM

  • 0-OK
  • 1- LEAK
Insufficient Paths

Indicates whether the meter has enough readings available to accurately measure the flow velocity profile. An insufficient paths condition may be caused by low water levels, tampering with the meter, weeds, or silt in the pipe.

INSUFFICIENT_PATHS
Silt Flush Status Indicates that a silt flush is underway. Silt can be flushed automatically if the Sonaray is configured to do so. SILT_FLUSH_STATUS
Max Flow Exceeded Flow has exceeded the maximum value for which the meter is calibrated. MAX_FLOW_EXCEEDED
No Water Level Sensor Replies Indicates whether there have been any valid signals from any water level sensor within a specified timeout period.

USWLS_COMMS_ERR

  • 0-OK
  • 1- FAIL
Flow Overload Indicates whether flow has exceeded the overload flow rate (IOVERLOAD_FLOW_Q4). In this case, the calculated flow rate is considered invalid and is ignored by the flow accumulators. FLOW_OVERLOAD
Watchdog Reset

Indicates whether the most recent reset of the meter was due to the watchdog timer.

The watchdog timer is a safeguard that resets the meter if it has locked up or become unresponsive for a specified length of time.

WATCHDOG_RST
Accumulator Storage Full Indicates whether the flowmeter has used all the available accumulator backup memory. ACU_STORAGE_FULL
Gate Position Status Indicates if the gate is open or closed. The gate is considered to be closed when the current gate position (opening) is less than or equal to the gate closed deadband (IGATE_CLOSED_POS). Otherwise the gate is considered to be open.

GATE_CLOSED

  • 0-OPEN
  • 1- CLOSED
Gate Positioning (Opening) Displays the current gate position when a gate (SlipGate) is connected to the Sonaray Meter. IGATE_POSITION
  For the following fields, the Processed (filtered) value includes any corrections for Pipe not Pull, Gate Closed and Low Flow conditions while the Raw value does not.  
Current Flow Raw and processed values of the instantaneous flow rate. IFLOW_VAL IFLOW_VAL_FILTER
Net Volume Raw and processed values of the net volume measured. IFLOW_NET_ACU IFLOW_NET_ACU_FILTER
Forward Volume Raw and processed values of the volume measured in the forward direction. IFLOW_FOR_ACU IFLOW_FOR_ACU_FILTER
Reverse Volume Raw and processed values of the volume measured in the reverse direction. IFLOW_REV_ACU IFLOW_REV_ACU_FILTER

Sonaray Configuration

Click the Sonaray Configuration button to open the Sonaray Configuration screen.

Velocity Profile Diagnositics

The Velocity Profile Diagnostics display readings for each velocity path and plane in the Sonaray assembly.
