Creating an Alarm Action

Create an alarm action to send a notification that an alarm has been triggered.

To create an alarm action:

  1. Click Alarm Actions to open the Alarm Actions module.
  2. Select the alarm group for which you want to create an alarm action.
  3. On the Actions tab click Insert to create a alarm action.
  4. Enter a Sequence number to control the order in which alarm actions are performed.

See Controlling the Sequence of Alarm Actions for more information.

  5. Choose the Period for which the alarm action is applicable.

    Note

This refers to the period during which the alarm was first triggered, not the period in which the alarm action itself occurs. Alarm periods are defined in the Alarm Periods module.

  6. Choose the Recipient. Use the Search tool to open the Party chooser.

    Note

The recipient can be an individual, or a group. If you choose a group, the notification is sent to the Active Member of the group.

  7. Choose the Action Type. This is the way that the alarm notification will be delivered.

See Action Types for more details.

  8. Select the Enabled checkbox to enable the alarm action.
  9. Set the Retry Count. If you want to perform the action once only, enter zero in the Retry Count field.
  10. If you want to have a delay between retries, or before the next alarm action, set the Retry Interval in seconds.
  11. Enter an optional Comment about the alarm.
  12. Click Save to save your changes.
