Creating a New Role

To create a new role:

  1. Click Roles to open the Roles module.
  2. Click Add New role to create a new role.
  3. Enter a name for the role in the Description field.
  4. If sub-role privileges will apply to this role, enable these on the Details tab. Enabling a sub-role privilege means that other roles can be configured to have the ability to make changes to the party record of a user with this role.

    Example

Enable the Include in Reset Passwork privilege check if you want to be able to use sub-role privileges to control who can reset the password of users with this role.

  5. Depending on your local configuration, there may be checkboxes displayed on the Details tab for the applications that you have installed. Select one or more of these checkboxes to immediately add an authority for those applications to the role for ALL PARTIES.

What next?

To allow users to log in with the role and use features of the system you can now:

  • Configure sub-role privileges that this role has over other roles. See Working with Sub-Role Privileges.
  • Add authorities to the role. These define the objects to which the role provides access. If you have created sub-roles, your role will already have all the authorities of the sub-role.
  • Give the role to a party, so that they can use the role to access the application. Add an authority to the system for each party that will log in using the role
