Placing a Property
About properties
A property is a landholding. It may be connected to the network if it uses water that is delivered by the network. A property must be created in the host database before it can be placed in the network. Use the Objects module or the Properties module to create a property.
Properties are related to outlets from which water may be supplied to the property. The relationship between a property and an outlet is called an authorisation.
A property may be removed from the network if it no longer uses water supplied by the network, however you cannot delete a property unless there are no historical orders for the property in the host database.
Placing a property
Note
Recommendations:
We recommend that you follow these guidelines when placing a property:
- Display the drawing grid and turn on the snapping function. See Using the Grid for details.
- Place the property no closer than 1 grid cell from an outlet with the outlet between the property and the reach.
To place a property on the network schematic:
- In the Network Editor, select the type of property to add from the objects palette.
- In the Property Finder, find the property that you want to add and click OK. The cursor changes to a crosshair with the icon that you are going to place.
Note
The Property Finder will only find properties that have not already been added to the network. You can see a list of these properties by choosing View > Unplaced Objects to display the Unplaced Objects list below the object palette. The Properties tab shows the unplaced properties.
- Click on the canvas to place the property in the network schematic.
You can now connect the property to any associated outlets.
