Configure a Data Export

Configure a data export to export the details of one or more tags. Run the export to generate a spreadsheet of exported data.

To configure a data export:

Click Data Export to open the Data Export module. Complete the following fields:

Export Object (optional)

Specify an object to export. To select an object, click the Find button beside the Export Object field to open the object chooser.

When you have selected an object, the system will load the details of any tags that belong to the object in the Data Columns field. Or, if you have previously exported the object, it will load the saved configuration settings.

File

Specify the output file name and location.

Separator

Choose a separator character for the output file.

Start Time/End Time

Set the period for which you want to export data. See Specifying the period for data export for details of how these settings work.

Header

Select this checkbox to include a header row in your output file to display the column labels.

Data Columns

Add or remove any data columns from the list. You can add actual tag values, or additional information such as timestamps or site details. See Data types for import and export files for details of the available column data types.

  • Use the Add and Remove buttons to specify the data to export
  • Use the Up and Down buttons to adjust the order of the columns.

Generate As

Specify the output file format. This defaults to CSV format, but you can also publish to an Excel template containing custom formatting. To do this, in the Generate As field select Excel from templateand specify the location of the template.

You can generate the export data file immediately by clicking the Execute button, or Schedule a Data Export to run the export task at a particular time or times.
