Groups Module

The Groups module is where you can view and manage the details of any objects whose object type is Group, or a sub-type of Group. Use the Groups module to create new groups, add objects to groups, and grant authorities to groups.

What is a group?

A group is a type of object that can have other objects as group members. They are associated with their group members through a relation type.

What are groups used for?

Groups are used to collect objects together so that the application can treat them as a single object.

Example

For example, granting an authority to a group object automatically grants the same authority to all the objects within the group.

Group sub-types

Different types of group can be defined as sub-types of the Group type.

SCADA Groups

SCADA Groups are a group sub-type and can be managed in the Groups module. However, for convenience, they can also be managed in the SCADA Groups module.

Note

Party Groups and Tag Groups are NOT group objects

Party groups and tag groups are not group objects because parties and tags are not objects. Manage party groups in the Parties module and tag groups in the Tag Groups module.
