Correcting, Accepting and Adjusting Meter Readings
- Correct a reading if it has been entered incorrectly
- Accept a reading if you accept a metered usage that does not match the estimated usage.
- Adjust a reading if you want to change either the metered usage or the meter reading.
Correcting mistakes in readings
If you enter a meter reading incorrectly and want to correct or delete it, you can do so directly in the Entries table before you save the entries. See Entering a Meter Reading for more details.
Note
To delete or make changes to metered usages that have already been saved, use the Meter Reading History Module
Accepting variations between usages
Readings where the estimated usage or the allocation remaining do not match the metered usage have the relevant column highlighted in red. When this happens, you must either correct the reading, create an adjustment, or accept the meter reading variation. For example, you might accept an inconsistency if you know that the flow delivered to the customer was less than what they had ordered.
See Estimated Usage and Metered Usage for details of how these inconsistencies are determined.
To force an adjustment, select the Adjustment Required checkbox when you enter a reading.
To accept a meter reading:
If there are uncorrected variations in your entries, the Meter Reading Adjustment form opens automatically when you save your entries.
Note
The Meter Reading Adjustment form also displays the meter reading history for the current meter so you can review the meter reading history before you adjust or accept a reading.
- In the Meter Reading Adjustment form choose Accept value to accept both the reading and the calculated usage.
- Select a Reason for accepting the variation.
- Click Save to save your entries.
Modifying the usage or the next reading start
If you want to record a usage that is inconsistent with the calculated usage, you must create an adjustment.
Example
You might adjust the usage if you want to discard or change a usage that is not suitable for charging to the customer. For example, you may be aware that the meter is not taking accurate readings.
To adjust a meter reading or a usage:
- In the Meter Reading Adjustment form choose Lodge Adjustment to edit the adjustment details.
- Enter the following details. You can enter an Adjusted Usage, or a new Next Reading Start, or change both values to create two adjustments.
Property Description Adjusted Usage
Enter the actual metered usage to record for this outlet and this period.
Reason
Choose a reason for the adjustment from the drop-down list
Next Reading Start
Enter the value that will be displayed as the Previous Reading when the next meter reading entry is made for this outlet.
Note, if you are replacing or resetting a meter you should create a new adjustment meter reading entry manually, see Replacing or Resetting a Meter for the correct procedure to follow.
- Click Save to save your entries.
