Low Volume Ordering

What is low volume ordering?

Note

Low volume ordering can only be used if you have enabled ordering by crop type.

Low volume ordering is designed to deliver small quantities of water at short notice (for example, to fill a small reservoir with a supply of fresh water). Customers place low volume orders online and orders are accepted without capacity checking or intervention by planners. This is possible because order options are limited and some are configured in advance.

  • Order start times and durations are limited so that customers can only place orders within a restricted time range and with a restricted duration.
  • The outlet settings (gate opening or flow rate) are fixed and cannot be changed by the customer.
  • Only one low volume order can be placed at an outlet at a time.

Water supplied as low volume orders is charged against the customer's water allocation.

When are low volume orders rejected?

Low Volume Orders will not be accepted in these circumstances:

  • Low volume ordering is not correctly configured (see Configuring Low Volume Ordering for details).
  • There is a conflict with an existing order.
  • There is a conflict with a maintenance schedule.
  • The customer does not have enough water remaining in their allocation to supply the order.

Low Volume Ordering Reports

Low volume orders are included in standard reports that include details of orders. There are also two reports that deal specifically with Low Volume Orders:

Low Volume Order Outlets Report

The Low Volume Order Outlets report produces a list of outlets for which low volume ordering is enabled for a specified group or area, and reports the value of the relevant low volume ordering attributes for each outlet.

Low Volume Orders by Area/Group Report

The Low Volume Orders by Area/Group report shows details of all orders lodged within a specified area and within a specified date range. It reports on the crop types in the order and can be limited to show only Low Volume Orders.
