Creating an Order

Orders can be placed:

  • By customers using Web Water Ordering
  • By your staff by creating an order directly in the Orders module.

Even if you have implemented web water ordering, you may occasionally need to create or modify orders manually in the Orders module.

Note

Copying an existing order - a quick way to create an order

You can create an order by copying an existing order. You can then change the order date and any other order settings. To copy an existing order, select the order and click Copy Order.

To create a new order in the Orders module:

  1. Click Orders to open the Orders module.
  2. Click Create New Order to create a new order.
  3. Enter the following details:
    FieldDescription
Specify the Outlet and the Outlet Operator. Choose one of the following options depending on whether you want to start with the outlet or with the outlet operator.

    by Outlet

Search for or specify the Outlet for the order. The application will look up the Outlet Operator. If the outlet is shared, you will choose the outlet operator from a drop-down list.

    by Outlet Operator

Search for or specify the Outlet Operator for the order. If the operator has more than one outlet, you will choose the Outlet from the drop-down list.

    by Property

Search for or specify the Property for the order. If the property uses more than one outlet, you will choose the Outlet from the drop-down list.

    Start time/date

Start time of the first flow item. The Finish Time is calculated when you finish entering flow items and save the order.

    Item Duration

Duration of the first flow item

    Item Flow Rate

Flow rate of the first flow item

    Flow Rate by Crop Type

If you have crop types assigned for the property you must specify the flow rate for each crop type. These must add up to the total Item Flow Rate

See the Crop Types Module for more information.

    Subsequent Flow Items

This field is used if you want to vary the flow rate during the span of the order.

Click to add a new flow item and specify the duration and the flow rate.

If you are specifying crop types, the flow rate for subsequent items is distributed among the crop types in the same proportion as in the first flow

    Bypass notice rules

Select this field to place an order that violates the order notice requirements.

Order notice requirements specify how much notice must be given before an order starts or is changed, but you can override these requirements with this checkbox.

  4. Click Submit to save your changes.

Creating a Repeating Order

Note

If the Repeating Details section is missing from the Order Create form, you must configure the default Max Repeating Orders Allowed attribute for the system. See Configuring Options for Repeat Orders for details.

Use the Repeating Details section to create repeating orders. Note that:

  • You can't create repeating orders if each order begins as soon as the previous order finishes. There must be some offset between the orders.
  • The number of repeats shows how many times the order runs after the first order has completed. So an order with a repeat of one will run twice - once for the original order, and one repeat.

Attaching a Message to an Order

Attach a message to an order to send information about the order to the planner or to any field operators. The planner will see the message when they log in and it can be printed on the plan running sheet.

See Attaching and Reading Messages for an Object or Order for more details.
